Outdoors and Hiking Club: 
We meet virtually once a month with in-person hikes and outdoor adventures through the year.  During our virtual meetings, we discuss the outdoors, share stories about trips, and animals. During our in-person adventures we have gone on hikes, learned about wildlife, learned how to make fire, and learned how to purify water.

Science Club:  
The Virginia Virtual Academy Science Club is an interactive community designed to help students broaden their understanding of science, work collaboratively with peers, build communication skills, learn from a variety of professional scientists, and participate in fun, student-centered activities.  We will meet on the first Friday of the month, and we encourage budding scientists of all grade levels and skill levels to join!  We can’t wait to see you!

STEM Club: 
The Stem Club will focus on stem projects that allow students to explore project-based learning activities in science, technology, engineering, mathematics & entrepreneurship using common household items

Garden Club: 
The garden club will meet once a month in the spring semester.  You do not have to have a large space or yard to garden, you can grow food anywhere!  We plan to share with you our passion of self-sustainment, growing our own organic food, and our love of flowers.  (Spring only)

Sports Club:
Are you interested in sports? This club is all about sports. We will talk football, baseball, basketball, tennis, track & field, you name it. Would you want to participate in a march madness bracket or maybe a fantasy basketball or baseball league? We look forward to having you in the club once a month for the entire school year. Maybe a little more when March Madness rolls around. I look forward to having you there with us.   Oh yeah, you might have to hear me talk about Track & Field on a daily basis or the Georgia Bulldogs!

Math Club: 
Math Club is a year long club that meets every 2nd and 4th Friday of the month. It is for anyone who likes to talk about math, or laugh about math! We share jokes, socialize, and this year, we will be looking for opportunities to compete in virtual math competitions! Whether you consider yourself “good” at math or not, this is a great opportunity to get to know your peers outside of the classroom.

Book Club:
Do you love books? Are you often looking for people to discuss literature with? Lots of people love to read, but it can be hard to find someone to discuss the book you're reading.  Join the VAVA Book Club to talk about books based on an agreed-upon reading list.  We will meet monthly to give members time to read each book.  The VAVA Book Club is a great opportunity to meet new people and make new friends with others who love to get lost in a good book.

Photography Club:
Do you enjoy photographs?  Perhaps taking them, sharing, and talking about them?  No fancy camera is needed as most cell phones have cameras on them already!  We will share ideas for composition, such as depth of field and the rule of thirds, but the Photography Club will be led by students with direction from Ms. Smith and Ms. Walker while we explore the art of photography.

9-5 Job Readiness Club:
This will be a workplace readiness/career club. Students will provide opportunities to share career hopes and explore necessary paths to achieve those goals. Guest Speakers will be invited to share their experiences as well.

Physical Fitness/Exercise Club: 
The Physical fitness club is a year-long club that meets on the first Friday of every month at 9:30 am. Students can be physically active with classmates, reach personal fitness goals, and reduce stress. In this club, students will challenge and motivate each other to be physically active by sharing their favorite workout routines, music, and more.

Baking and Books Club:
Love Books? Enjoy Baking? Join us in the Baking and Books Club. Meet monthly, alternate each month between baking and book discussions. Club members vote on both the recipes and books. No experience required.

Cooking Club:

Meet monthly with friends to learn new dishes and share tips and tricks about the art of cooking. Recipe and shopping list will be sent out before each meeting.

Psychology Club:
The human mind is fascinating and complex. Each session we will discuss some of the latest research within a topic in Psychology. We will watch a short video and discover the ways that research is helping us understand our own behaviors and mental processes. How do businesses use psychological tactics to influence consumers? What happens in our brains when we sleep? What is social media really doing to our brains? If you want answers to these questions and more, come join us for Psychology club one Friday each month. This club is open to all VAVA students. You do not need to be in Psychology classes to join!

Forensics Club: 
The Forensic Science Club is for students who want to cultivate a familiarity with the field of forensic science. The goal of the club is to provide members with the opportunity to discuss case studies and create their own murder mysteries. Members will be sure to grow their observational and analytical skills.

VAVA Virtual Players Club: 
Let's put on a play! Club members will collaborate and produce a virtual play that will be edited and shared as a video for family and friends. If you love theatre, acting, performing, directing, or video editing, this is the club for you

Golf Club: 
The virtual high school golf club is a fantastic opportunity for golf enthusiasts to connect and improve their skills from the comfort of their own homes. We’ll have virtual practice sessions, friendly competitions, and even virtual tournaments. Join us and tee off for a hole-in-one virtual experience! .

Craft Club: 
Creating and crafting is beneficial for everyone!  Craft club members can look forward to meeting virtually once a month, socializing and showcasing everyone's crafting ability!

Writers Club: 
We welcome anyone, and everyone interested in exploring and improving all aspects of their writing! Every week we invite students to bring in something they are currently writing. We invite and discuss poetry, short stories, novellas, fantasy, sci-fi, history, and almost any other genre or writing style you can imagine. We share the writing in Google docs and encourage our members to give live and supportive feedback. The group is led by Mr. Rodney Ray and Dr. Nancy James

Media Club:
Students will learn about and put into practice different types of media including web design, audio and video production and editing.

Debate Club: In Debate Club, students will practice and improve the skills of speaking under pressure, clearly forming and communicating their ideas, critical thinking, and speaking with confidence.  Debate Club meets bi-weekly (every other week) during the Fall semester.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA): 
Fellowship of Christian Athletes is a club that gives students an opportunity to support each other and their walk with Christ.  Don’t let the name fool you.  FCA is for athletes and non-athletes.  Join us at our monthly meetings as we are encouraged and challenged by a variety of guest speakers provided by FCA and play some fun games to wrap up our meetings. This year our club includes both middle school AND high school students!

Black Student Union:
The Black Student Union is open to ALL students to: learn about African/Black American history and culture; strive for academic excellence, promote positive images of African/Black Americans (including guest speakers) and educate each other.

Multi-Cultural Community:
This club seek to educate all students about different cultures and religions around the world in an effort to bring unity and connection to all students at VAVA regardless of their ethnicity or religion. All are welcome to join in this inclusive opportunity to learn more about each other.
Students will have an opportunity to present about their culture during club time.

Muslim Student Association (MSA):
The MSA will bring together all students; those who believe in Islam and those who want to learn. We aim to provide a supporting and inclusive environment for those with different backgrounds and beliefs, to come together to learn about Islam. Through events, discussions, and activities, the MSA encourages dialogue about Islam, dispelling misconceptions, and celebrating the rich history of Islam and its practices.

Teaching Assistant Club:

VAVA High School Teaching Assistant Club offers students the opportunity to support teachers during live classes. Members help facilitate learning by assisting with classroom activities, managing tables, answering student questions, and providing one-on-one guidance and support to peers. This club helps develop leadership, communication, and organizational skills while giving students a chance to make a positive impact in their school community. It’s ideal for those interested in education, mentoring, or simply contributing to a collaborative learning environment.
 All Student Teaching Assistants will receive training prior to becoming a TA, as well as participate in regular club meetings where members will share ideas and insights with one another.

Virginia Virtual Academy is a tuition-free program of the following school districts: Bland, Bristol, Giles, King and Queen, Norton, Patrick, Radford, Smyth, Tazewell, Washington, and Wise.

Families do not pay tuition for a student to attend an online public school program. Common household items and office supplies like printer ink and paper are not provided.
